A drama-free Christmas
We had a very pleasant, wonderful, fun drama-free Christmas. It was fantstic!
We got up this morning and went to Uncle Kevin's house. Everyone was on time, Uncle Kevin made his world-famous omlettes while I made my (one day) world famous bloody mary's. We all ate breakfast.
We opened presents, and my gosh were there a mound of presents. Of course that happens when you have a family as big as ours but frankly it was obscene. Everyone got everything they wanted, there was no mistakes of people opening the wrong presents or being disappointed in what they found. Jazzy got everything on her wish list and then some. She is quite enamored of her Target brand American Girl knock off doll and has played with it all day long which is apparent from the fact that Chris is currently sitting at our kitchen table sewing up the seam in her back that already busted. Jazzy also got her wooden knitting mushroom, a rock tumbler, a barbie vet puppy a play dough super craft caddy, some new clothes, jewelry hand-made by my Mom and tons and tons of books including some more of the Childrens Classics and the first 6 Nancy Drew books. Chris got more gift cards than he knows what to do with, including Best Buy and our local motorcycle shop. My brother got us a $50 gift card to the local AMC theater which we are totally stoked about. I'm currently sitting here in my new flannel Victoria's Secret PJ's waiting for Chris to set up our new Wii so that we can bowl and play other fun games. I think tomorrow we are going to go out and buy a few games including Bolt for Jazzy and Mario Kart for us along with a second controller. To top it all off I got to take pictures all day with my new Nikon CoolPix that Chris gave me last week. And I've got two gift cards -- one from Joanne's and one from Michael's that will be used to buy ridiculous amounts of yarn. Mom also got me tons of new running stuff from Rebook. And our Christmas isn't even over yet! Our neighbors down the street absolutely adore Jazz and bought her a Christmas gift as well. Then we'll be at Missa and BJ's for New Year's and will do Christmas with them then.
I went running after we opened presents while Chris came back up here to the house to get the mashed potatoes that we accidentally left in the fridge this morning. I got to run the front 9 of the golf course at Rivermont and it was really cool to be running alongside these houses that are huge and incredibly expensive. I only did about 3 miles because damn it was hot out there this afternoon and I just wasn't prepared for it! When I got back everyone relaxed for a bit and then the guys all went out to bowl a couple of games while the girls made dinner. One of Uncle Kevin's vendors had given him a 22 pound round roast that we cooked all afternoon and it was out of this world. There was almost more food than there were presents this morning and we ended up leaving before we even had dessert.
I think we are going to try to hook up tomorrow with Mom and Kevin again for the afternoon before I have to go to work. I'm hoping for a super good night tomorrow with everyone being home from college and ready to get away from the family for a bit.
Hope everyone else had as good of a day as we did!
