An Historic Night

It's 11:57pm. I'm sitting here watching President-Elect Obama walk onto the stage to give his victory speech.

This is a very important night in the history of our country. I'm so grateful for everything that we have, for an open system of government that will allow a visionary like Obama win an election in what I would dare to call a landslide.

I'm grateful that my family is sitting here watching with me, and that my daughter went to the polls with me on Wednesday of last week and pushed that button for Obama herself.

She has a stake in this too as what I do with my vote will impact the world that is left for her.

I'm relieved, and overwhelmed and so thankful that this election is over.

This is a night that I will never forget. And I hope that Jazzmine remembers sitting on the couch with her Dad and I and watching the first African-American President in the history of our country come out onto that stage, thank his family, his friends and the American people.
