Our Crazy Weekend and Monday
I had to work on Friday but was early out. Lucky for me we were a bit busier than I planned, but that means that I was there until after 11:30. That's okay though, worth the money.
Saturday we enjoyed a wonderful BBQ at a friend's house. Good food, and good friends. What more could you ask for?
Sunday I had to be at work at 2:00 so I went to the dollar store early to pick up some goodies for the neighbor's birthday party. Then while I was cleaning up the house a bit, Chris worked on cleaning out the Durango. We've hatched quite a scheme and part one is in the works. I'm just hoping that it doesn't backfire on us. See, Chris received a free Honda Goldwing last year that pretty much needed to be re-built from the ground up. He's put about $1000 worth of work into it and it's still not ready to run. When gas prices shot up, we parked the Durango and then Chris drove my Maxima to and from work. Even then gas is crazy and so he ended up borrowing Missa and BJ's motorcycle and has been riding that for the last few months. The Durango has been parked with the exception of me driving it the 3 miles to and from work each week. The Maxima has been there for Jazzy and I to drive around to different activities. We got to talking and Chris almost immediately found a man on Craigslist looking to trade his 1999 Yamaha V-Star 650 cruiser for a SUV or large van. The gentleman has 4 kids and his wife is making him get rid of the bike so that they can get something bigger for the family. Chris met up with him this morning and they've traded out vehicles for a couple of days so that they can both test drive, get them checked out, etc. They will do an even trade. Anyone know the tax implications of this or how we even going about filing for something like this??? Anyway, now we just need to find a beat up junker car for say $500-700 for Chris to ride in the rain and during the winter to and from work and we're all set. My best friend and her hubby (the same ones who let him borrow the motorcycle) as have a Grand Marquis that they are looking to sell. Unfortunately they want $3,000 for it but will let us make payments so I'm not sure if we are going to go that route or not. The bike is beautiful, and suits Chris much better than the Interceptor did. I hope that this all works out *crosses fingers*
I had a decent night at work last night, and Chris and Jazzy came up to bowl for a while. It was good for them because they hadn't been up there in quite a while. I think I'm going to try to take Jazzy more often. I mean, I get 6 free games each day. I might as well use them.
Today we took Jazzy in for her 6 year check up. She's almost 4 feet tall and weighs 44 pounds. Her thyroid is more enlarged than it was last year and she has some enlarged lymph nodes as well. They did the finger prick hemoglobin test and she freaked the fuck out, but calmed down eventually. We talked to Dr. Papciak a bit about her sleepwalking and he said that 99% of the time they see this sort of sleepwalking in kids who don't have a routine bedtime (which she certainly doesn't) so Chris and I are going to have to get on a serious schedule. I think we'll start tonight and begin with no later than 11:00 to be in bed reading the story, then move it back 15 or 30 minutes every week until we get to about 9:30 or so and see if that helps her. I don't think we can go any earlier than that - frankly there are some nights that we are just eating dinner at 9:30 because our schedule is so crazy. I'm not entirely sure how to reign it in, but we are going to have to do something. On our way out he said that we are the types of parents who don't need to read any books or take any parenting classes. That made me feel really good knowing that he thinks we are doing well. I really respect his opnion and he always knows the right thing to say. :)
We got home and cleaned the upstairs. Jazzy is chilling on the couch after her traumatic day. In a bit we are headed to ballet. I'm going to run the path there while she's in class, hopefully twice to get in a little over 3 miles again today. Then it's back home for dinner, Eclipse AND knitting. I have way too many things planned that I want to make as Christmas gifts, and not enough time to make it all.
